Objective

On the basis of the senior citizens card, the senior citizens will be allowed:

• Free of charge entry to public museums, libraries, parks, and recreation facilities
• Financial support to deserving senior citizens
• Separate counters for senior citizens in hospitals
• Concession in medical and medicines charges
• Membership of the Organization of Senior Citizens Corps

Progress

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Senior Citizens Act 2014 was promulgated on 02-12-2014, and in pursuance of Section 3(1) of the Act, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Senior Citizens Welfare Council was established on 22-09-2016.

On 07-11-2017, the Council approved specimen cards for senior citizens.

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) is being signed with HELPAGE International to provide financial aid and technical resources for implementing the Senior Citizens Act and formulating a monitoring matrix.

Data regarding senior citizens has been received from the Bureau of Statistics, P&D Department, and NADRA.
