This is a health safeguard for poor patients who cannot afford expenses for their treatment. Zakat funds for medical treatment of deserving (Mustahiq) patients are provided to provincial-level/teaching hospitals, district headquarter hospitals, and tehsil headquarter hospitals of the Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The patients are provided health care as per the following expenses:

Istehqaq is determined by the Local Zakat Committee of the area of permanent residence of the patient.
Currently, there are 26 Provincial-level major Zakat-aided hospitals in the province.
The patients are provided health care as per the following expenses:

Health Welfare Committees in each hospital are available to look after the ongoing treatment of the patients. They can extend the cost of treatment beyond the above ceiling if required.
