Provincial Council for Social Welfare (PCSW)
About
The Provincial Council for Social Welfare was constituted in 1974 and restructured in 2000.
The purpose of the PCSW is to formulate and implement plans and policies for the promotion of social welfare activities.
It provides financial aid and assistance to registered Social Welfare Organizations for various projects.
The council also holds seminars, conferences, and workshops on social welfare themes on a regular basis.
The staff strength of the PCSW is comprised of six (06) employees.
During the financial year 2016-17, an amount of Rs. 8.00 million was allocated as Grant-in-Aid for the activities of PCSW.
Functions
- Formulate and implement plans and policies for the promotion of welfare.
- Promote registration of welfare organizations.
- Render financial aid and assistance to registered organizations.
- Hold seminars, conferences, and workshops.
- Conduct monitoring and evaluation of registered organizations.
Activities
- Grant-in-Aid provided to 837 registered organizations.
- Registered 4,300 organizations.
- Regular monitoring by District Officer Social Welfare.
- One-window operation developed to avoid duplication.
