Objective

To promote a gender-enabling environment in society at large.

To sensitize public sector departments to bring in gender equity in their respective programs.

To promote women’s participation in policies as well as in public services.

To protect working women both in the public and private sectors.

To promote a monitoring mechanism on gender disparity in the province.

To build the capacity of officers of line departments with respect to gender issues.

To promote career guidance for female students.

To build the capacity of Judicial and Police Officers on gender-related court cases.

To build the capacity of locally elected female representatives on gender mainstreaming and gender-based budgeting.

To promote gender equity in the province.

Progress

Social Welfare Officers from all 25 districts were trained on gender mainstreaming, the role of women in socioeconomic development, and project cycle/PC-1 preparation.

61 officers from provincial line departments were trained on gender-based planning and monitoring.

720 female students at the degree level received career counseling in different fields related to their studies in the districts of Charsadda, Mardan, and Peshawar.

240 officers from district line departments in Abbottabad, Kohat, D.I. Khan, Mardan, Peshawar, and Swat received awareness training on harassment issues and actions to prevent workplace harassment under the Harassment Act, 2010.

50 Civil Judges from various districts of the province were trained on gender mainstreaming and women empowerment.

A 2-day training was arranged for provincial line departments on Goal 5 of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), with special focus on equity in resource allocation.

A survey is underway in the industrial sectors of Hattar, Haripur, and Peshawar, with a special focus on wage equity and employment.

Awareness material regarding the display of the Harassment Act, 2010 was posted in all provincial departments.
