16 Days of Activism, 2025

“UNITE TO END DIGITAL VIOLENCE AGAINST ALL WOMEN AND GIRLS”

During the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence, we are reminded that violence against women is no longer limited to streets or homes — it has entered our digital spaces as well. Online harassment, cyberbullying, blackmail, and misuse of personal data now pose serious threats to the safety, confidence, and freedom of women and girls. Addressing digital violence is not just a technical matter but a moral responsibility to protect voices, identities, and futures in an increasingly connected world.

This fight is inseparable from the broader struggle for women’s empowerment, and at its core lies education. When girls are educated, they gain awareness, critical thinking, and the confidence to protect themselves, speak up, and claim their rights both online and offline. I urge parents to prioritize their daughter’s education, because an educated girl becomes resilient against violence and a powerful agent of change for her family and community.

As we observe the 16 Days of Activism, we reaffirm the urgent need to strengthen policies, improve services, and challenge societal norms that lead to gender-based violence. The Social Welfare Department remains committed to advancing systems that ensure protection, justice, and dignity for every woman.
